Apart from the random Tegan bashing… Yes, a good episode. B+ in my books.

Also, the part where Jenny lays the smack down on the grunts was, as you said, fairly unnecessary for the plot. But it was a missed opportunity for some character development. I mean, usually the Doctor likes a plan, uses his brains to think his way out, and doesn’t officially approve of violence. Even though, let’s face it, he does. Would have been nice for him to, as they were running away, say something like, “I completely disapprove of violence, by the way, but don’t let that stop you!” *shrug* just a little nod to the Doctor’s pretense of passivism wouldn’t have been nice for me, anyway. :)

One final point, Strax is REALLY annoying. I was bored of his ‘advice’ schtick in the Christmas spesh, but today it went from eye-rolling to ‘oh for god’s sake, shut the fuck up!!’ I hope he gets a little development. Maybe eventually he says something like, “No more bombs, no more guns, no more poisoned trenches of death. I just want to go home.”
